Scenario

You have been hired on the position of consultant for an organisation with planning of globally expanding a multinational brand. The operations and sources of materials are spread over different countries with wide range of products and services. Kellogg Company is an example of such organisation.

The organisation of Kellogg's is one of the leading manufacturer for cereal breakfast. The manufacturing of such products is done in 19 countries and sold in more than 160 countries. The well-known brand of Kellogg's produces a wide variety of corn flakes, rice crispiest, Special K, Fruit n Fibre and even their well-known Nutri-Grain cereal bars.

You have to investigate and explain the concepts and practices of supply chain management by using Kellogg's organisation or any organisation of your choice and inform the Directors of organisation for proceeding further for expansion of organisation. Present such evaluation in an Individual Report Format as being presented to the Directors.

The report should cover the following headings:

• Implication of key supply chain concepts, principles and processes in context to organisation.

You have to explain key supply chain concepts, principles and processes that are applied through the stages of resourcing, product design and development, logistics and distribution. Elaborate application of supply chain concepts, principles and processes for improvement on efficiency of organisation.

• Examine the importance of effective supply chain management

Explain the importance of effective SCM from the viewpoint of customers, suppliers, distributors and retailers. Examine the importance of financial flow management and physical information within supply chain.

• Describe the inter relation among supply chain and other areas of an organisation.

Examine the cross functional and integrated approach of SCM with other areas of organisation. Elaborate the application of such interrelationships among supply chain and other functional areas with use of theories, concepts and models.

Briefly explain the supply chain concepts, principles and processes with other areas of organisation and they inter relation with other areas of organisation.

• Give some suggestions on improvement of supply chain strategy of an organisation.

The last area will cover suggestions for improvement in the supply chain strategy. Elaborate a supply chain strategy of an organisation and current ideas for its improvement. Give some suggestions for improvement of supply chain strategy.
